
Born and raised in Lahore Aijaz Gul has an extraordinary educational and professional career. He got his early education from Aitcheson College, Lahore, one of the most prestigious educational institutions of the country. He earned his bachelor’s degree in History and Political Studies from Forman Christian College Lahore, one of the oldest educational institutions in the Punjab province. He did his Masters in Film Studies from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
He has consistently been writing film reviews and analyses for Pakistani and foreign film publications. Currently he is writing for an English daily The News International. In addition to newspaper articles he has authored four books on different aspects of film and film making in Pakistan. His latest publication is on the art and life of the famous singer Noorjehan, the melody queen of Pakistan. His next book will be on the history of Pakistani films which is under print by Lok Virsa, Islamabad.
He is a member of the FIPRESCI-Federation of Film Critics and also a member of the NETPAC-Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema. He is a core member of Lok Virsa Mandwa Film Club. He also works as consultant with Film Division, Pakistan National Council of the Arts.
He has attended various international film festivals held in different parts of the world including Mumbai, Delhi, Dhaka, Tehran, Tokyo, Hawaii, Bangkok, Bradford, Paris, Moscow, Busan, Seoul, Yamagata and Manila.
